Tips & Techniques
1. Crumple Technique: Wear latex gloves if desired. Crumple fabric with fingertips. Spray fabric as desired. Carefully open crumpled fabric to reveal painted and unpainted areas. Repeat process until desired coverage is achieved. Color will intensify in areas already containing paint. Let dry.
2. Stencil Technique: Cut out stencil motif, leaving as much border around motif as possible. Position stencil on fabric. Tape down paper towels to protect areas that will not be stenciled. Spray 2-3 light coats on fabric, letting dry slightly between coats. If necessary, place a paper towel over stencil area to soak up excess paint. Remove tape and paper towels. Let dry. Remove stencil.
3. Watercolor Technique: Tape a pad of paper towels to a shirtboard and insert between layers of fabric. Mist fabric with water to dampen. Spray paint on fabric as desired. Colors sprayed closed together will blend; if desired, use a hair dryer to prevent paint from spreading too far. Let dry. Remove shirtboard. Repeat process on reverse if desired.
