Instructions

  1. Lightly wipe ware with a damp sponge to remove any bisque dust.
  2. Using a pencil, very lightly sketch horizontal and vertical lines in the center section to create squares for the checkerboard pattern. Refer to photo.
  3. Using the No. 1 Liner, apply three flowing coats of Black to every other square on each row to create the checkerboard effect as shown, letting dry between coats. Make sure to alternate squares with each horizontal row so that black squares are between white squares with each vertical row.
  4. Apply three flowing coats of Really Red to the top and bottom sections, avoiding the top knob and the rims on each section. Let dry between coats.
  5. Apply three coats of Black to the knob at the top and the rims separating each section. Refer to photo.
  6. Thoroughly shake and mix the French Dimensions™ Black Licorice. Shake the color down to the tip of the bottle. Apply vertical lines along the bottom section as shown, allowing the color to dry thoroughly. Tip: If the color is too thick to easily apply, remove the tip and add a few drops of Thin ‘n Shade™ then mix with a bamboo skewer. Test on palette.
  7. Using the Fan Glaze, apply two flowing coats of Pure Brilliance® Clear Glaze to the entire piece.
  8. Stilt and fire to witness cone 06.
  9. Use a stilt stone to remove stilt marks.
