Instructions

  1. Prewash T-shirt; do not use fabric softener. Cover work surface with Surface Cover and lay damp T-shirt out flat on prepared surface. Smooth out any wrinkles.
  2. Wearing plastic gloves, prepare Blue dye as instructed on box. Pour dye into spray bottle.
  3. Spray bottom third of shirt, completely saturating. Make sure dye soaks through to backside of shirt; if not, spray backside.
  4. Add water to spray bottle, filling to top, then replace nozzle and shake bottle to dilute color. Spray onto the middle of T-shirt, making sure color soaks through to backside. Refill bottle with water, further diluting color and spray onto remaining portion of T-shirt. Refer to photo.
  5. Cover T-shirt with plastic tablecloth to keep damp and let set for 6 to 8 hours or longer for more intense color. Fully rinse T-shirt in warm water until water runs clear. Fill washer to large load setting with hottest water suitable for T-shirt and a small amount of laundry soap. Wash and dry separately. Iron smooth.
  6. Insert Fashion Form between layers of tee. Print out butterfly pattern and enlarge to desired size. Refer to photo.
  7. Position pattern on tee with transfer paper underneath. Trace over lines to transfer design onto fabric.
  8. Shake bottle of Black Slick. Test flow of paint on paper towel. Squeeze paint over pattern lines on half of the butterfly.
  9. Lay sheet of paper carefully over wet paint and press. Remove paper.
  10. Continue with remainder of butterfly, working in sections at a time and blotting with sheets of paper. Let dry.
  11. Pour a puddle of Crimson Red on foil or palette. Using the No. 6 Round, paint the heart with two coats of Crimson Red, letting dry between each coat.
  12. Transfer the word “HOPE” above the butterfly (see picture) or freehand if desired with chalk pencil.
  13. Pour a puddle of Ebony on foil and using No. 4 Liner, fill in letters with paint. Let dry.
  14. Use Fashion Art Tweezers to place crystals in peace sign in center of red heart. Set in place with Cordless Heat-Setting Tool, following instructions on package.
  15. Squeeze a puddle of Glitter Bond on foil. Using the No. 6 Round or the No. 4 Liner, brush some Glitter Bond into the designs on wings and sprinkle a red and silver glitter into adhesive as shown in photo.
  16. If desired, use Liner to brush a fine line of Glitter Bond around butterfly, then immediately sprinkle silver glitter into glue. Let completely dry then shake off excess glitter.
  17. Heat set a few more crystals randomly around shirt.
