Suzie Shinseki

Suzie works as a Senior Designer at iLoveToCreate®. She has been involved with art since childhood, and her passion has continued throughout her life. She honed her natural talents by attending the Academy of Arts in San Francisco on scholarship, art classes at San Jose City College. She works with various media and substrates. You can find her masterpieces on painted signs, murals, people and animal portraiture, mold design, sculptures, ceramic projects and fabric paint designs. Her commercial endeavors include children’s coloring books, illustrative designs for bags, brochures and cards. Her exceptional illustration skills have brought her many jobs as a fashion illustrator for designers in Hong Kong and Hawaii.

Bright and Cheery Chevron Mug

Paint yourself a yummy mug full of color and personality from which you’ll love sipping all your favorite hot beverages. Combine Duncan® Shimmer Glazes™ with Duncan® Concepts Underglazes for Bisque in a wake-me-up chevron pattern.

Instructions:

1. Wipe cup with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.

2. Trace chevron pattern on tracing paper and pencil over lines on reverse side.  Position pattern on cup and trace over lines to transfer.

3. Using Liner brush, paint three coats Bright Straw in thin chevron stripes. Let dry.

4. Brush three coats Light Papaya in the other thin chevron stripes. Let dry.

5. Brush three thorough coats Ruby Shimmer in the wide chevron stripe and the handle of mug. Let dry.

6. Brush two coats Pure Brilliance to inside and base of cup. Let dry.

7. Stilt in kiln and fire to cone 06.
