Delicate Creatures Tote

It’s hard not to stop and appreciate the beauty of a butterfly. Now you can flit and fly about town with your own winged wonders safely secured onto this custom tote thanks to Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion®.

Instructions:

  1. Cut 15½” x 34” piece of canvas and 9”x 45” strip of cotton fabric for shoulder strap.
  2. Fold canvas in half with right sides together (15½” x 17”) and sew up both sides with a ½” seam allowance.
  3. Fold 3" of the top edge of the bag to the inside and press. Fold the raw edge under 1/2", press and pin. Sew the top hem completely around the opening by stitching close to folded edge.
  4. With bag still wrong side out, form the corners of bottom by pinching side seams and bottom center together to form a triangle. Stitch across at 1” from point.
  5. Tulip® Disappearing Ink Pen to trace butterfly pattern onto cotton fabric. Cut out butterfly shapes. Apply an even layer of Aleene's® Fabric Fusion® and place on tote body. Let dry.
  6. For strap, fold 9" strip in half with wrong sides together and press.
    Open and fold long edges toward center fold. Press.
    Fold in half on original fold, press. Sew a scant seam along open edge.
  7. Sew strap ends inside tote body on the top of each side.
  8. Using ribbon, tie bows onto each side of strap where sewn to tote body.
