Have a Heart Tie-Dye Backpack

Tote your stuff in a backpack that’s all heart! This colorful tie-dye heart design backpack is perfect for everything from school supplies to an overnight sleepover.

Instructions:

1. Wash backpack as directed in fabric care instructions. Leave damp and lay out on covered work surface.

2. Fold one edge of bag over enough to accommodate half heart pattern with approximately 1” extra at seam edge.

3. Fold paper in half and draw and cut out half heart shape for pattern.

4. Lay half heart pattern along fold and use washable marker to trace around.

5. Starting at bottom of heart shape, pleat upward, drawing the fabric into a straight line along marker line. Secure with zip tie.

6. Add four more zip ties evenly spaced after first zip tie. Place tied bag on pastry cooling rack on covered work surface.

7. Mix dyes according to package instructions.

8. Apply Fuchsia to first tied section, Orange to second section, Yellow to third, Lime to fourth, and Turquoise to the remaining section.

9. Allow bag to set 6-8 hours.

10. Remove ties and rinse bag under running water to remove excess dye.

11. Wash and dry bag according to fabric care instructions.
