Home Tweet Home Traditional Birdhouse

This house is for the birds…literally! The Duncan® Oh Four® Bisque Traditional Birdhouse is ready to take on your creativity to transform it from a house to a home for some lucky birdies. Add some charm with Duncan® Concepts® Underglazes for Bisque and watch your fine feathered friends flock to their new home.

Instructions:

1. Remove rubber stopper on bottom of birdhouse. Wipe birdhouse with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.

2. Paint birdhouse roof with three coats Aqua Sprinkles. Let dry.

3. Using Fan Glaze brush, paint birdhouse with three coats Light Ginger. Begin from top just below the roof and taper off paint leaving about 1/4 from bottom unpainted. Let dry.

4. Brush Dark Ginger from below the roof and taper off color in upper area.

5. Use Liner brush to paint fine lines of Dark Ginger to simulate wood. Let dry.

6. Use Fan Glaze brush dipped in Light Kiwi and paint grass from bottom upward feathering strokes to blend into the Light Ginger. Brush two additional coats. 

7. Dip same brush into Dark Kiwi and brush upward from bottom of birdhouse.  Blend into the Light Kiwi.

8. Use Liner brush to paint thin stems for flowers and blades of grass of irregular heights with Dark Kiwi. 

9. Dab Bright Salsa petals for flowers and a dot of Light Saffron in center. Let dry.

10. With pencil lightly draw lines going across each side of roof. Next, draw lines going down to create shingles.

11. Add a touch of Black to Aqua Sprinkles to darken. Brush line below each layer of shingles. Dip brush in water to dilute and blend into line to create shadows under the shingles. Let dry.

12. Brush two coats Pure Brilliance to bottom of birdhouse. Let dry.

13. Brush one light coat to entire birdhouse. Let dry.

14. Stilt on kiln shelf and fire to cone 06.
