Leave the Light On Lantern

With a lantern this fun, you’ll want to leave the light on all day long! Dress up a black and white base with colorful paper flowers for a light piece that pops.

 Print

Instructions:

1. Set out the flowers and leaves and use a chopstick or pencil to curl the ends for dimension.

2. Cut a 2” piece of party streamer in a contrasting color. Cut the streamer in half lengthwise to make it thin.

3. Apply a spiral of glue in the center of each flower and press streamers in place around the spiral. Fold up the edges of streamers to create a ruffled look. Glue smaller paper flowers in the centers of streamers.

4. Add a dot of glue in the center and press a gem in place. Let all flowers dry.

5. Open and assemble the paper lantern. Set it on top of a small bowl to hold it in place.

6. Apply a line of glue to the back of each flower and then carefully set on the lantern. Hold in place for 30 seconds, then continue adding flowers up and around the lantern. Let dry.

Variations: Use colorful butterflies and gems on a second lantern for a matching look!
