It's Time

Since there are 60 minutes in an hour, children must be able to read and order numbers to 60 before they can read time on the digital clock. Since time is often referred to in fractional terms on analog clocks, it will be helpful if children have an understanding of halves and fourths. Educational Objectives: This lesson provides opportunities for students to: • Learn new visual art vocabulary and use it in the course of the project • Generate multiple designs with the use of color and release techniques • Use multiple instructions to produce a hands-on project • Understanding and applying media, techniques, processes • Using visual arts in relation to mathmatics • Reflecting upon and assessing the characteristics and merits of their work and the work of others • Making connections between visual arts and other disciplines • To introduce the elements of a clock and explain their functions • To teach telling time to the hour
