Suzie Shinseki

Suzie works as a Senior Designer at iLoveToCreate®. She has been involved with art since childhood, and her passion has continued throughout her life. She honed her natural talents by attending the Academy of Arts in San Francisco on scholarship, art classes at San Jose City College. She works with various media and substrates. You can find her masterpieces on painted signs, murals, people and animal portraiture, mold design, sculptures, ceramic projects and fabric paint designs. Her commercial endeavors include children’s coloring books, illustrative designs for bags, brochures and cards. Her exceptional illustration skills have brought her many jobs as a fashion illustrator for designers in Hong Kong and Hawaii.

Retro In Bloom

Let your creativity bloom to life with this retro-inspired platter! Pair the Duncan® Oh Four® Square Collection Platter with Duncan® Envision Glazes® for a project that’s picture perfect.

Instructions:

  1. Wipe ware with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.
  2. Using tape measure, find the exact center of the tray to align the pattern.
  3. Place clay carbon paper between tray and pattern. Use pencil to transfer the design four times on each corner of the platter. Turn over the pattern for two sections.
  4. Referring to photo for placement, use No. 1 Liner to apply three coats of Cranberry and Chocolate Brown to the narrow shaded areas on the strokes as shown. Keep layers neat and tidy. Let dry after each coat.
  5. Using either No. 1 Liner or No. 6 Round as needed, apply three coats of both Honeysuckle and Bright Wine to the petals, alternating colors.
  6. Using No. 6 Round or Fan Glaze brush as needed, apply two coats Pure Brilliance® to the unpainted areas including the bottom.
  7. Stilt and fire to witness cone 06.
