Be Still My Heart

Out of the lace, the lone heart stands. This effect is easily achieved with some freezer paper and Tulip® One-Step Dye. Then give it some sparkle with Tulip® Iron-One Crystals.

Instructions:

1. Prewash shirt without fabric softener to remove sizing.

2. Draw a heart of desired size on freezer paper, cut out.

3. Position heart waxy side down onto tee where desired. Iron heart on shirt.

4. Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth and paper towels.

5. Cut crochet doily in half and lay on bottom half of shirt. Lay lace fabric over top half of shirt. Press down with fingers to lay very flat against shirt.

6. Wearing protective gloves, add water to dye bottle, filling to line.  Replace cap tightly. Shake until dye is dissolved. Pour dye into spray bottle.

7. Spray dye over the lace and the doily to cover entire shirt, being careful not to oversaturate the lace and doily.

8. Wrap shirt in plastic tablecloth and let set for 6-8 hours.

9. Pull off lace and doily and freezer paper heart from shirt.

10. Fully rinse dyed shirt until all extra dye is removed and water runs clear.  Wash and dry. (Wash separately the first few washes.)

11. Place all 100 crystals in a random pattern around the heart. Carefully cover crystals with pressing cloth.

12. Set iron to correct temperature for fabric and iron over pressing cloth firmly for 20 seconds. Let cool for 2 minutes. Re-iron if needed.
