She honed her natural talents by attending the Academy of Arts in San Francisco on scholarship, art classes at San Jose City College. She works with various media and substrates. S’more Please!

Make a special serving dish for all the goodies that make up everyone’s favorite summer treat! Concepts® Underglazes help the Duncan® Oh Four® Chip & Dip bowl look like a summer sunset that’s perfect for backyard camping fun.

Instructions:

  1. Wipe ware with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.
  2. Pour puddle of Bright Caribbean on palette. Refer to photo and use No. 10 Round to paint three coats Bright Caribbean to outer circle of bowl (approximately ¾”). Let dry after each coat.
  3. Use No. 10 Round to paint two coats Light Kiwi in a stripe approximately ¾” wide, below the blue painted rim. Let dry before starting second coat, but while paint is still slightly damp after second coat, brush a third coat blending slightly into the Bright Caribbean. Let dry.
  4. Pour puddle of Bright Papaya. Brush two coats Bright Papaya, measuring about 1½”, in a rim around butting up to the Light Kiwi. Let dry between coats. While second coat is slightly damp, brush a third coat blending into the Light Kiwi. Let dry.
  5. Paint three coats Neon Red into the remaining area up to the center, blending slightly into the Bright Papaya. Let dry after each coat.
  6. Repeat ring of colors on the back side of plate.
  7. Trace SMORES on tracing paper. Pencil over lettering on reverse side of pattern, turn right side up and position in center of dip portion of bowl. Trace over letters with pencil to transfer.
  8. Using No. 4 Liner, paint three coats Neon Red in letters. Let dry after each coat.
  9. Dip end of paintbrush into the different colors and make multi-colored dots around SMORES. Let dry.
  10. Pour some Pure Brilliance® into clean container. Brush carefully onto the center bowl of the dish. Let dry and repeat.
  11. For the remainder of the plate, add a little water to the Pure Brilliance to make a wash consistency.
  12. Carefully brush over the rest of the top side and entire underside of the dish. Let dry.
  13. Stilt in kiln and fire to witness cone 06.
