Starbucks Red Cup Ugly Sweater DIY

Picture of Starbucks Red Cup Ugly Sweater DIY

Not sure if you've heard (and I bet you probably have), but the Starbucks red cup has been brewing up a lot of discussion this season.  Some of the conversation started to get downright ugly around my house..ugly sweater that is!  This project will require a Starbucks run and a good sense of humor.  Let's order up some laughs, shall we?

What you need:

You'll need the following
Aleene's Quick Dry Fabric Fusion
– Assorted colors of Tulip Dimensional Paints
– Hook & Loop Tape
Aleene's Quick Dry Tacky Glue
– Medium crocheted lace doily
– 2 Red Starbucks Cup
– Exacto Knife
– Red felt
– A Facebook account so you can post yourself wearing the sweater and stir up more red cup controversy

Cut the red cup in half using your X-acto.

Apply the Aleene's Quick Dry to the top of the cup and glue to the lid.

Cut your doily in half.

Using the Aleene's Quick Dry Fabric Fusion, glue the doilies inside the collar to make a peter pan collar. If you need to, you can clip in place using clothespins.

For each half cup, cut and glue two pieces of felt to fit across the inside of the cup.

Add Aleene's Hook & Loop tape to fit the bottom front of the sweater.

They will look really awkward like this!

I broke out the Tulip Dimensional paint and dotted on the word CHEERS.  If you don't have the patience for dots, you can always lay down sticker letters and go around them with the paint for uniform-looking letters!

I created rays of glitter dots as if my two cups were clinking to create magical fairy dust!

Personalize one side of your cup with your name. We opted for a custom cup of "Joy".

On the other side, the logo was turned into a puffy paint wreath!

I think your friends are going to like this one a latte!  It's sure to win you the Grande prize at the Ugly Sweater Party!
